Parker, Van Alstyne, and Choudary do some great work on platforms including their 2016 book, Platform Revolution: How Networked Markets Are Transforming the Economy–And How to Make Them Work for You.  Check out their great slide shares and websites as well.  While most of their work is about B2C platforms, much of it can be transferred to a B2B context with a little care.
